Wer oder was zum Teufel ist eigentlich VOLLGAS JONNY ????
VJ ist mehr als nur eine Coverband. Vollgas Jonny spielt in einer typischen 40-50iger Jahre Besetzung: Klavier Standbass Gitarre & Schlagzeug Sie spielen mit einem authentischen Sound im Stil der alten Blues Legenden und interpretieren damit aber auch Stücke von der Motown Soulmusic bis hin zu den derben Rocknummern von ACDC und den Stones.
Es wird teilweise deutsch gesungen wie es eine „German Rhythm and Blues Band" in den 60iger Jahren auch gemacht hätte, wenn diese Bands denn existiert hätten. Man kann fast sagen Vollgas Jonny sind so was wie das fehlende Bindeglied zwischen den deutschen Interpreten der 30iger Jahre - wie z.B. den Comedian Harmonists - bis zu Lindenberg und der neuen deutschen Welle.
So wird z.B. aus einem Hendrix "Hey Joe" ein "Heh Sepp, wo rennst denn hie mit dem G`wehr in der Hand" Und alles ohne den Zeigefinger und das Sendebewußtsein der Liedermacher oder dem Teenagergehabe der Neuen Deutschen Welle Spaßgeneration.
VOLLGAS JONNY sind authentisch- sie swingen, rocken und soulen ihren Blues, als wären sie von 1954 bis 74 durch die Clubs der Republik getourt.

VJ is more than just a cover band. Vollgas Jonny plays with typical 40-50s Instrumentation: piano, upright bass guitar, and drums. VJ plays with an authentic sound ranging in style from old blues legends to Motown soul music and all the way to the rough rock songs from ACDC and the Stones.
VJ's sings partly in German, just as a "German Rhythm and Blues Band" did in the 60's. One can almost flat out say that Jonny's is something like a missing link between the German artists of the 30's - such as the Comedian Harmonists - up to Lindenberg and the German new wave.
For example, they rewrote Hedrix's "Hey Joe" to "Hey Sepp, where are you running to with the riffle in your hand?" all in good fun and not upsetting of the songwriters or the teenage posturing of the German New Wave fun generation.
Vollgas Jonny is authentic, they swing, rock and soul to their blues, as if they had toured the clubs in the country from 1954 to 1974.
